My favourite material to work with is timber. I wanted to bring this material to a very personal product. The iterative prototypes were made quickly by hand with balsa wood. This initiative coincided with my interest in learning how to design components to be made with a laser cutter. Consequently the final prototypes were made from laser cut, laminated, hardwood veneers. The primary learning from this project is that the ergonomic performance of a pair of glasses is heavily dependent on a number of fine details. The product must either by perfectly, precisely executed for a specific user, or flexible to adjust parameters such as temple form as needed.
